Programming languages are designed so that only a very narrow group of mental types can comprehend it. Therefore, the culture of computer programming has a narrow world view. Perhaps, there are so many bugs and so little success because only a very narrow range of intelligent people can grasp the infrastructure as it currently exists, and contribute?

Just a thought?

perl6. As you have found in Haskel, you can write rubbish code in any language, and as my colleagues have told me: you can write good code in languages like Perl ;-) .

Languages do tend to have a culture around them that shows in say their newsgroups and advocacy groups that goes beyond the semantics of the language - Python has 'The Zen of Python'
Try typing:
python -c "import this"

So for your next language, although you need to have a new, language with some killer feature to get peoples attention - you also need to market heavily how you think it should be used to get it to be used in that way.

...But people looking for a quick fix will still shun you :-)

- Paddy.
